Wait On The Lord

I’m sure all of us at some point in our walk with the Lord after praying and asking the Lord for a break- through, a healing, a financial situation, or something else near and dear to our heart we have asked ourselves or even God “What’s taking so Long?”, you even may have had an exclamation mark at the end of that question! First know this child of God, the Lord is faithful to His Word of promise. In fact, when God the father makes a promise (oath) He swears by Himself because there’s no one greater to swear by to keep it (Hebrews 6:13). Further verses in Hebrews 6, says; “That by two unchangeable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us”. Many other scriptures assure us that God will keep His end of the promise but notice how I phrased that statement, as there is a manward requirement of the promise being fulfilled. We could see this from a natural standpoint more clearly, for example, if I said ‘I promise to give you my car, but you struggle to believe what I said, you may not show up to take possession of the car! Would that be me not fulfilling my end of the promise, of course not? Why doesn’t God just do it for you if He promised it? The answer is simple in that we have a free will! Since we serve an invisible God, He doesn’t just physically walk up and give it to you. And even if he were to use someone (which he does), what if that person isn’t quick to obey God and He has to go through several people before someone finally obeys him, It could cause a delay or a waiting period wouldn’t you say? Now I’m not saying God is limited by man, but I use this as an example of avenues God may use. Although if you are in Christ and have been born again with a new nature, your mind still needs to be renewed (Romans 12:2) and time tests our faith. It’s during the waiting period we discover how weak or strong our trust in God the father is. It’s in the waiting period we find out if we lack patience, steadfastness, and endurance. Do we lose our joy, or do we like the apostle Paul say I have LEARNED to be content IN all circumstances (Phil 4:11-13)? The waiting period is an opportunity to have these areas of our lives fixed by the Author and the Finisher of our faith! Is it easy, my goodness a resounding NO?! We have been trained growing up to respond the world’s way and this can feel like suffering, but if we will let the Lord work in these areas of our lives we can come to understand why the Word of God says; ‘And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast (1Peter 5:10). No wonder the Word also says; But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Child of God, the Lord will perform His oath in our lives lets not give up! Gal 6:9 -Jmont
