Lost Reception?

Updated: Sep 13, 2022

Have you ever come to place in your life where you feel you have lost the connection between you and God? Have you come to the place where you feel like you’re at a stand-still because the focus has been lost as well as the energy and strength to get it back?

We know The Word of God says He will never leave us nor forsake, yet it feels like the connection between you and the Lord has been lost.

I’ve been in this place, but I have also learned that when I’m in this place, it’s not because the Lord left me or closed His ears to my cry, no I have learned to take him at His Word and begin to take inventory of me, it’s ALWAYS on my end, it’s because I’m out of tune. For example, when you’re listening to the radio and there’s lots of white-noise and static, I’m pretty sure you don’t call the radio station and ask; ‘why aren’t you broadcasting?’, no you start turning the dial slowly in one or more directions or you move away from any potential obstacles to a better location to regain lost reception!

I have found that most of the time it’s because I have moved from the spot where I was getting the best reception and we can do this spiritually speaking. When we are not getting direction or hearing the freshness of His Word like we used to it’s because we are either not tuned in, or we did hear him but did not do or follow up with what He said. The Word of God says “My son, ATTEND to my Words; INCLINE thine ear unto my sayings. Let them NOT depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart (Prov 4:20-21). We could spend a lot of time on each of these points but for the sake of this topic, let’s look at the word ‘INCLINE’, this word suggest YOU move in, YOU bend in closer to the speaker’s voice. Jesus said, “if any man has ears to hear LET HIM hear what the Spirit says…” and another passage says “Come close to God, and God will come close to you” (James 4:8)

The Lord is speaking to us all the time, but many times we are not hearing. Why are we not hearing? Jesus who is the Word answers this too: “perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened? Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not”? Mark 8:17-18 (KJV)

Now I know this one may be hard to admit for many of us because no child of God sets out to harden their heart! Yet we can do this when we hear God speak to us through an anointed message or when reading the Word of God, and we didn’t value it enough to act on it. If one continues to not heed what may appear to be “smaller” instructions from God the Father, it can lead to complete hearing impairment spiritually speaking. The book of Solomon 2:15 says it this way; “the little foxes, that spoil the vines”. In other words, these passages we just went over tell us with what PURPOSE and INTENSITY (or Value) we should hear and act on the Word of God. So, if we are experiencing a loss of reception, lets ask the father to forgive us and break up the follow ground, bring a tenderness back to our heart so that we may hear and do what the Lord says. He loves us so much!
