The Image of your soul. Have you ever asked yourself “Why do we have an imagination?”, “What is the imaginations purpose?”. Well open your heart for a moment because the Word of God has a lot to say about this very important part of your soul. When you get an understanding of the imagination’s purpose, you will begin to know why it is vital to our everyday life, and the outcome of our future! You will begin to see why the devil attacks one’s imagination and why God wants you to renew and govern the imagination. (Rom 12:2 , Phil 4:8, and 2Cor 10:5-6. Christians for the most part have been afraid to even talk about the imagination because of it’s wrongful usage in areas like; mind-over-matter, witch craft, transcendent meditation, etc.. Yet God the Father is the creator of the imagination and every single person lives and conduct their lives by these ‘inner-images’. What do you think ‘worry’ is? It is an inner image of your defeat in some form. Yes it appears my friend that the devil has stolen yet another principal from the Kingdom of God! Let’s look at a couple of scriptures regarding the imagination; Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me. (Job 21:27) Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?(Psalms 2:1) Notice in those passages the words wrongfully imagine, and imagine a vain thing. It is not the use of the imagination that God is against but rather the wrongful use of the imagination. However, the imagination correctly trained and exercised according to the principals found in the Word of God can absolutely cause you to live above the evil in the world! The Bible is full of passages that reference the imagination, words like; Consider, Thoughts, Hope, Meditate, and Ponder all have to do with inner-images. The scriptures tell us the importance of meditating the Words of God. You see God designed the imagination to be used for yours and His highest good and purposes. Without the Word of God the imagination becomes unharnessed and the entry point for the devil’s evil deeds. “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he” (Prov. 23:7). The imagination God’s delivery system. The imagination is the soul’s blueprint mechanism! It is the starting place of all things! It is a part of God’s delivery system. This is why God told Joshua he was to meditate upon the book of the law (God’s Word) day and night so that he would OBSERVE to do all that was written therein. Observe has to do with the eyes, but he wasn’t referring to the physical eyes, but rather the eyes of his inner-man. By meditating on God’s Words Joshua would begin to see himself do exploits, he saw himself totally victorious! Joshua saw in himself that the Lord would cause his enemies to be smitten before his face and so it was! The Bible reveals what we nurture and see inwardly is what we will become or bring about outwardly. When the children of Israel returned from searching the land of Hebron, they said; “And there we saw the giants………and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and SO WE WERE in their sight’ (Numbers 13:33). Red Hot Expectation! The word “Hope” in the new testament is a word that most accurately describes an imagination that has been transformed by the Word of God. The Bible definition for Hope is; Fervant Expectation! It is an intensified, fully-persuaded, inner image of God’s promises coming to pass for you! In fact if you don’t have this inner image of expectation in you, faith has nothing to bring to pass. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for” (Hebrews 11:1). Flood your Imagination! I encourage you to flood your imagination with the Promises of God in the area where you are needing victory. Keeping in mind that if you are a Christian, you are in covenant with a God that cannot lie! According to Hebrews 6:11 if you will be diligent to flood your hope (imagination) with the promises of God, your Hope will have “full-assurance” unto the end of what you have been seeing! you will begin to see yourself Whole, see your self prosperous, see your self healed! Be diligent until you are CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF GOD’S DEAR SON! (Romans 8:29) By Jose Mont (condensed from original 1997)
